 EXPERIENCE: Tom started his career as a multiline adjuster with Liberty Mutual. After attending the Building Damage Estimating program at Vale Technical Institute, he specialized in property claims which led him to a position as a Regional Property Supervisor with American Reserve Ins. Co. There he supervised staff and independent adjusters on property claims throughout the northeast.

In 1978 Tom was hired as the Home Office Property Claim Director for the Peerless/Netherlands Ins. Cos. There he oversaw the handling of property claims out of eight regional offices covering the northeast, midwest and southeast. Tom established company guidelines for the handling of property claims, wrote a Property Claim Manual and conducted educational seminars. He functioned as a general adjuster, inspecting and co-adjusting major fires losses and he established and managed catastrophe offices for three hurricanes.

In 1986 Tom became a General Adjuster with Gordon Boyd in Connecticut because of a strong desire to get back in the front lines where he felt talent was lacking. Due to his love of the mountains of northern New England, he relocated back to New Hampshire with Cruikshank & Co. where he continued to specialize in handling large or complex losses.

In 1998 Tom took a six month sabbatical during which he thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. Shortly after returning to work, he and his partner formed WoodlandClaim Service which took over the operations of Cruikshank & Co.

Tom has heavy fire experience in commercial and personal lines including million dollar losses. He is well versed in coverages and is accomplished in cause and origin determination. He is a skilled construction estimator, adept in handling business interruption claims, and specializes in Formal Appraisal. Tom's experience includes losses to: hotels, resorts, restaurants, condominium and apartment complexes, shopping plazas, retailers, clothing manufacturers, inland marine and cargo. He has extensive catastrophe experience, having worked seven hurricanes including Fran in 1996, Andrew in 1992 and Hugo in 1989.
