BACKGROUND: Ed began his adjusting career in 1953 upon his release from the Navy where he served as Communications Officer on a destroyer escort during the Korean conflict. He joined his father who had founded his own property adjusting firm in 1934, This developed into, and continues today, to be a family business. With his brother's passing in 1970, and his father in 1973, he assumed control of the firm, which at the time had a staff of a dozen property specialists. Management is now with his nephew, Chuck, and daughter-in-law, Peggy, while he devotes full time to adjusting major property losses. He has contributed his time and expertise to the Property Loss Research Bureau where he has participated as a panelist, as well as the National Forum of Property Loss Adjusters, where he is a member of its Advisory Board, also serving as coordinator of group leaders at the annual seminar. He has been a speaker at various industry conferences both domestic and overseas. He acts as an appraiser/umpire in disputed losses and offers expert witness testimony in property insurance litigation, both relating to measure of damage and bad faith issues.

EXPERIENCE: Adjustment of multi-million dollar losses throughout the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, South America and Far East. During the course of his career his major losses included the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 as well as the 9/11/01 terrorist attack, New York Telephone Company fire in 1975 and the Steel Pier fire in Atlantic City in 1982. He has handled major telephone company losses in Venezuela and Arkansas, land erosion claim in Arizona, earthquake claims in California, paper pulp mills in various states, builders risk/course of construction losses in New York and California, salt mine collapses in Louisiana and New York, major hotel losses in the Virgin Islands, cold storage plants in New York, meat packing plants in Iowa, grain elevator losses in Iowa, distillery loss in Kentucky, riot losses in Trinidad, garment contractor losses in Jakarta and Manila, leather tanneries, yacht club facilities in the Bahamas and contingency claims relating to nonperformance and lottery printing errors, as well as product recall and product liability claims.

Expert Witness Testimony: He acted as an expert witness at trial and as a consultant to defense/subrogation counsel relating to allegations of alleged bad faith, proper/improper claims handling procedures, as well as measure of loss and damage. He has also served as an umpire and/or advocate in arbitration proceeding involving boiler/fire conflicts between insurers.
