Professional Adjuster
BACKGROUND: Bill started his claims career in Seattle, in 1965, as a multi-line adjuster with Fireman's Fund Insurance. Because of his preference for property, he became the branch property examiner for Transamerica Insurance. After years of company property experience, Bill became an independent supervising adjuster with Underwriters Adjusting Company in 1977 in charge of all large property claims. From there, he joined Toplis & Harding where, as Assistant Vice President, he handled property claims throughout the United States until he formed Ballard and Company in 1984 to focus more on claims in the Northwest, Alaska and British Columbia.
ASSOCIATIONS: Loss Executives Association, Past President of International Institute of Loss Adjusters, National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters, Seattle Claims Adjusters Association.
EXPERIENCE: Special expertise is offered in Course of Construction, Design Defect, Business Interruption and Manuscript policy claims. Bill has extensive experience in dealing with Native corporations, fishing and logging industries, school districts and municipalities. Claims have ranged from luxury golf course resorts damaged by Hurricane Hugo in the Virgin Islands to drilling rig fires on Alaska's north slope; from fish canneries in the Aleutians to gold mines in Nevada; from ferry docks to onion and apple producers.
